Hundreds of Muslims have reportedly stormed the streets in London to share tonnes of food to homeless people in the spirit of the yuletide celebrations.
According to Standard.co.uk,about ten tonnes of food items were distributed by the Muslims who were at the East London mosque to carry out the unusual task.
About 7,500 congregants were pictured attending prayers on Friday, December 16 at the mosque in Whitechapel.Speaking on the essence of the gathering and donation to the homeless, Shaykh Abdul Qayum, the convener of the collection who doubles as the Chief Imam of the East London Mosquenoted that they were driven by what they believe in.
"Muslims are inspired by their faith towards helping others in need. It is a religious duty for Muslims to try to help others, irrespective of a person’s faith or background,"he said.
