A 16-year-old boy has cut off his manhood and almost killed his mum after he smoked Indian hemp. The teenager had gone to bed with a knife, as he started hallucinating, fearing that some people lived right inside the walls of his room. He got up in the night and stabbed his mother before chopping off his own penis in what doctors said was “cannabis-induced psychotic episode.” His father told the BBC how the drug turned his otherwise “very bright, bubbly lad” into a paranoid “waste of space.” “He basically had a psychotic episode and did huge amounts of harm to both himself and his mother,” the distraught father said. The man said his son tried smoking Indian hemp with a few friends before becoming “completely addicted.” He said his son had delusions, believing mermaids were real and thought “people were living in the walls.” Doctors say the boy would undergo further surgery in the coming days.

The Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, has described his State Governor, Yahaya Bello as an “olodo governor” over his inability to pay civil servants in the state. The lawmaker made the remark while reacting to reports that Bello has allegedly commenced the process of recalling him from the senate. In a post on his Facebook page, the outspoken lawmaker currently at the center of a bribery scandal wrote: “AJEKUN IYA NIO JE,ATI YAHAYA!!ATI ONOJA!! “Yahaya Bello carrying money round newspaper houses to give him front page tomorrow that Dino Melaye recall process begins. “I laugh in pigin English. A man as daft as Yahaya Bello who do not know about transferring voters card from Abuja to Kogi or Edward Onoja who will soon be on his way to Prison want to recall the best Senator of the year 2016. “Senator with the highest number of motions and bills, in fact make I laugh in Chinese. Hahahahahahuhuhuhuhubkakakakawuwuwu. Olodo! I have told our people to go and collect the money after all na awa money. “Governor that can’t pay salary but can sponsor rubbish, i alarmed us 2 days ago that this will happen. The President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, has bemoaned the four per cent reduction in the 2017 budget allocation to education sector.

He made the observation on Thursday in Abuja when he paid a courtesy call on the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Mr Ayuba Wabba.

He said such reduction was capable of destroying the nation’s educational system. According to him, the decline in funding education from 11 per cent to eight per cent in 2015 will do the education system no good.

“About six per cent was proposed in 2017; about four per cent was given at the end of the day.

“The decline will also destroy the country because destroying the educational system of a nation means destroying the nation,’’ he said.

He said education had been relegated to the background because political office holders, now own private universities at the detriment of government universities.

“They build their own universities, and they do not care about government universities.

“The moment they destroyed government universities, Nigeria will have none again, because everything has been privatised,” he said.

According to him, the union has always engaged government on funding and provision of facilities to attract quality education that can bring development to the country.

He said the political class hardly recognised the essence of scholarship and funding for the development of the system, adding that all they think about was for them to take away what belong to the people.

Ogunyemi also called on Nigerians and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to support the fight for proper funding of education sector. He, however, commended the assistance and intervention of the NLC during the six months strike.

While receiving the ASUU president, the NLC president said education has played a major role in the development of the nation’s economy.

He said it was sad that most of the leaders, who had benefited from free education, could not transfer same education to the children of the poor.

According to him, large number of Nigerian youths has been denied quality education.

According to him, this act is deliberate to push the children of the poor out of the growth of the nation’s economy, so that they can determine who runs the affairs of the nation. 

Wabba, however, urged the union to see that the battle was won, adding that the nation has more than enough policy and resources to make the education system better than what it used to be.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State welcomes the legendary boxer, Evander Holyfield on Thursday.

The governor wrote on his Instagram account, “Lagos welcomes a 4-time world heavyweight champion, Evander Holyfield. An icon. A Champion. Our Pride.


“This visit will open doors to international sporting events and professionals in Lagos. We will collaborate with Evander Holyfield Foundation and its ideals to promote youth engagements through sports.”

According to reports,  Holyfield was born on October 19, 1962 and practiced as a professional boxer from 1984 to 2011.

He was an undisputed champion in both the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions, being the first to do so and till date, his record remains unbeaten.This earned him the name ‘The Real Deal’.


Holyfield is the only four-time world heavyweight champion, having held the WBA, WBC, IBF, and lineal titles from 1990 to 1992; the WBA, IBF, and lineal titles again from 1993 to 1994; the WBA title from 1996 to 1999; the IBF title from 1997 to 1999; and the WBA title for a fourth time from 2000 to 2001.

The All Progressives Congress should know that Senate President Bukola Saraki is not a real member of the party. 

He is a schemer who declared for the APC just because he wanted to clinch the position that he is occupying today in the National Assembly.

Also, Saraki clearly wanted to use his position in the Senate to influence the cancelation of his case with the Code of Conduct Bureau.

Nigerians will observe that his actions are in collision course with the government in power, especially in all matters relating to the Presidency, the confirmation of appointments and others.

Members of the APC in the Senate should not be deceived into believing that Saraki is one of them. 

He is in the political party to do the bidding of his real party, the Peoples Democratic Party. If they are not careful, APC lawmakers in the Senate will not find their bearing until the end of their tenure.


How come the Senate totally rejected Ibrahim Magu, who was the candidate of the APC, as the boss of the EFCC and there was no opposition against the decision?

The Ekiti state Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has set up a panel to probe the former Governor of the state and his predecessor, Mr. Kayode Fayemi who is equally the current Minister of solid minerals and development over an alleged allegation of financial mismanagement under his (Fayemi) administration as the governor of the state. The eight man panel, inaugurated in Ado Ekiti on Monday and headed by a retired high court judge, Bamidele Oyewole, is saddled with the responsibility of ascertaining how much Ekiti State Government received as statutory allocations during the period under review and how same were disbursed and to ascertain the amount the Ekiti state government took as loans during the period under review and how they were utilized among others.
“In compliance with the resolution of the Ekiti state house of assembly passed on the10th of May, 2017, urging His Excellency, the Governor of Ekiti state to look into the financial transactions of Ekiti state under the administration of Dr John Kayode Fayemi, His Excellency, Dr Peter Ayodele Fayose, acting pursuant to section 2 of the Ekiti state commission of inquiry law cap C10 laws of Ekiti state 2012, has constituted a judicial commission of inquiry to look into the financial transactions of Ekiti state between 2010 and 2014,”
the “The terms of reference of the commission are as follows: “To ascertain how much Ekiti State Government received as statutory allocations during the period under review and how same were disbursed.
“To look into the financial transactions of Ekiti state between 2010 and 2014. “To ascertain the amount received on behalf of the state from the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).
“To investigate the allegation of fraud/loss of funds, including the diversion and conversion of the State Universal Basic Education Board Fund.
“To ascertain the amount the Ekiti state government took as loans during the period under review and how they were utilised and all other issues relating to the finances of the Ekiti state government within the period under review and; “To make appropriate recommendations to the Ekiti state government.
“The judicial commission of inquiry has three (3) months to submit its report to the governor.”
